Before doing anything, make sure there is no immediate danger from structural or electrical problems!
* Turn off circuit breakers for electricity in damaged areas.
* Unplug and remove electrical devices in damaged areas.
* Determine the source of the water and seal off, if possible, to prevent further damage.
* Remove as much standing water as possible.
* Place pets in dry, secure areas.
* Pull up draperies and furniture skirts to aviod contact with water.
* Place aluminum foil or saucers between furniture and wet carpet.
* Remove Orientals or colored area rugs from wet areas.
* Remove all small items from closets, floors and under beds.
* Open drawers and cabinets to facilitate drying. Do not force open.
* Turn air conditioner to reduce humidity and aid the drying process.
